About
Chris Craymer is a Director, Photographer and Writer
“I create projects about love and romance by telling inspiring stories that explore our universal need for human connection.”
Chris Craymer is first and foremost a storyteller. Whether he’s working on editorial or advertising stills, directing commercials, or as an independent filmmaker, Chris’ trademark is his ability to elicit subtle, fascinating truths from his subjects. He creates work that is both relatable and aspirational.
Chris is always looking for a wide array of characters to work with. He always seeks to create a comfortable environment for all his clients whether they are a Hollywood star or stepping in front of the camera for their very first time. He is always seeking to create imagery that combine his skills in portrait, fashion, and beauty photography with his passion for directing dramatic independent films. For Chris, every project he works on combines his artistic sensibility with his search for that extra performance that makes his work unique.
As such he creates moments of love, confusion, trust, delight, or fear in ways that fascinate and intrigue us. By putting his emphasis on story and authenticity as opposed to “perfect pictures,” Chris creates unusually evocative stills photography, witty and/or compassionate commercials, and tender, yet powerful film narratives.
His key is simple. Always intelligent and empathetic, he creates a safe environment for both subjects and clients to express themselves. Full of encouragement and gentle direction he creates an atmosphere of fun and laughter. The compliment he always loves best is when someone leaves set saying it was their “best day ever”.
Chris has written, directed and recently completed a short indie film, Gifts of the Heart (June 2019).
Intrepid and relentlessly curious, in his spare time, Chris has published four photo-essay books:
Romance depictions of the romantic lives of real couples, some famous, some just folks, whom Chris has befriended on his worldwide travels.
In London eccentric, engaging, unique, and courageous individuals showing their street style in dress and attitude that typifies one of the world’s greatest cities.
From the Heart explores twelve individuals who inspire Chris on a personal level. The book is a series of photography portrait images combined with interviews describing their stories
American Romance describes Chris’s take on Romance in the USA which inclusively embraces the diversity of relationships including the LGBQ community.
Chris has exhibited his work in London, Paris, Hong Kong and New York.
